Japanese delegation visits Floriade

The ambassador of Japan in the Netherlands, His Excellency Hidehisa Horinouchi, and his spouse and delegates from the Dutch & Japanese Trade Federation (DUJAT) visited Floriade Expo 2022 in the presence of Mayor Franc Weerwind and Alderman Maaike Veeningen of the Economic Development department of the municipality of Almere.

His Excellency Hidehisa Horinouchi expressed the hope that during the Expo Japan, together with the members of DUJAT, can show the world the strong relation between Japan and the city of Almere. In April, Japan officially announced its participation in Floriade. Japan plans to introduce not only Japanese horticulture, but also Japanese culture, such as Ikebana. The Japanese entry is themed ‘Satoyama Farm Garden’ and shows the traditional Japanese ecological lifestyle in which house, farmland and forest are united.

This visit was organised at the initiative of the Dutch & Japanese Trade Federation (DUJAT). A non-profit organisation founded in 1984 Dutch importers of Japanese products with the aim to improve the trade balance between The Netherlands and Japan and to increase mutual understanding and business opportunities. The members are Japanese, Dutch and other international companies and (semi) governmental organisations. Approximately 40 DUJAT members registered for the visit in collaboration with the Economic Development department of the municipality of Almere.
