The countries that are present at Floriade with a pavilion organised a National Day during Floriade. On these days, the host countries provided a special cultural programme and showed the best of their home countries: music, dance or theatre. The days started with an official flag ceremony, performed by youngsters from Scouting Almere.
1 October: National Day Czech Republic
On Saturday 1 October, the Czech Republic celebrated its National Czech Day at Aeres University of Applied Sciences.
30 September: National Day of Sudan
On September 30, Sudan shared a piece of their culture with folk dancing and traditional delicacies.
29 September: National Day China
With dance, martial arts, music and singing, the Chinese National Day on Thursday, September 29, had a rich programme.
11 September: National Day Ethiopia
With Ethiopian cultural music, dance, food and a colourful coffee ceremony, there was a varied programme to experience Ethiopian culture.
7, 8 and 9 September: National Day Japan and Japan Festival
The highlight of the day was the spectacular Hanaike Battle, a floral art competition between Japanese and Dutch flower arrangers and floral artists.
2 September: National Day Qatar
On 2 September, Qatar was proud to share a slice of their culture with folk dance and musical performances, traditional delicacies and portraits by artist Hayfa Alsada.
18 August: National Day India
'Bhangra' and 'Kathak' are two traditional Indian dances which visitors could enjoy on 18 August during the National Day of India. It was a memorable festive day.
30 July: Swiss Day
Grüezi wohl! Salut! Ciao! Allegra! Switzerland was pleased to welcome you to their National Day on 30 July. It was a real Swiss party with alpine horns, music and a famous dish from the country.
29 - 31 July: German Week
Every country that is present at Floriade with a pavilion organises a National Day during Floriade. For Germany, that day took place on 29 July.
28 - 3 August: Thai Week
On 28 July, Thailand celebrated its National Day with an exciting programme.
26 July: National Day United Arab Emirates
On 26 July, the United Arab Emirates celebrated its National Day. This was also the UNESCO International Day of the Conservation of the Mangrove Ecosystem.
11 July: National Day Cyprus
On 11 July, Floriade-newcomer Cyprus celebrated its National Day with beautiful music.
8 July: National Day of Italy
This day was entirely dedicated to “Italy and flowers: from ancient Rome to the exploration of space”.
1, 2 and 3 July: Keti Koti Festival
On 1, 2 and 3 July SMOA organised the Keti Koti Festival at Floriade, with a large parade of participants in cultural attire, workshops, song and dance shows and performances by various music groups from Almere and other cities.
3 July: Celebrating Bangladesh, Transforming Agriculture
The National Day of Bangladesh on 3 July was a day full of entertainment, culture and delicious mangoes.
18 June: Belgian Day
On 18 June, Belgium was in the spotlight at Floriade. During Belgian Day, you could enjoy artists from Belgian soil, including pianist Jef Neve, jazz singer and saxophonist Nicolas Kummert, and Brussels DJ sensation Henri PFR.
