Floriade Dialogue #1

Urban agriculture

Floriade Dialogue kicked off in June 2018 discussing the social benefits of urban agriculture. Urban agriculture projects have positive social impacts for their citizens independent of the different motivations in establishing the projects and cultural background. They always contribute to a improve a city’s climate, food security and health of the citizens and are considered essential for establishing a liveable city.

This first Floriade Dialogue discussed the social benefits of urban agriculture based on thre practical experiences of cities from North America and Europe. The anticipated social impacts of urban agriculture projects were discussed from the perspective of a rapidly growing global urban community, with different cultural and social structures.
