Indonesia and Thailand confirm participation

The year 2019 has started well for Floriade Expo 2022. Indonesia and Thailand have confirmed that they will participate in the world horticultural exhibition, which will take place in Almere in 2022. Together with the earlier announcement of Qatar’s participation, a total of three countries have now officially confirmed their participation.

The invitation letter for participation in the Floriade, an international A1 world horticultural exhibition recognised by the Bureau Internationale des Expositions (BIE), was sent by the Dutch government to BIE member countries in July 2018. After several (diplomatic) contacts this resulted in official participation of Indonesia and Thailand. The next step is to have discussions with these countries about the interpretation of their pavilions, which often also include a garden as a distinctive and characteristic element of the entry.

Floriade Expo 2022 will focus on the Green City of the Future for six months. Countries are asked to include the ‘Growing Green Cities’ theme in their entries. Talks, some of which are already well advanced, are also planned with various countries for the coming period. Further reports on this will follow as information is received.
